The Big Beach House on the Isle of Arran, Scotland

The Isle of Arran, also known as “Scotland in miniature”, is surprisingly only two hours from the hustle of Glasgow (including an hour ferry crossing). The Big Beach House is situated in Whiting Bay, only a 10 minute drive from the ferry terminal in Brodick.

Arran is known for it’s spectacular scenery and lush, rugged hills. As you sail into Brodick Bay, you will have fantastic views of Goatfell, which stands the highest at just under 3000ft.  The Big Beach house is an ideal celebration venue in a fantastic location, sleeping 20 people.

The Big Beach House, luxury self catering accommodation, is situated in Whiting Bay at the South East of Arran, opposite a beautiful sandy beach. A large children’s play area and sports field is two minutes from the house. It is a bird watcher’s paradise with swans and other birds thronging the shore. They stay all winter. It all started with one person feeding a swan. It then became a regular hobby for the locals and now 4 or 5 generations of swans stay and enjoy the hospitality of Whiting Bay!

Sandbraes Beach has beautiful walks along to the Viking Fort at Kings Cross which overlooks Holy Isle. This was where the Viking fleet hid before making its invasion down the Clyde. During the war the British fleet took shelter here after Scapa Flow.

There is a marine protected area around the South of Arran.
